Jon Grenier

Jon Grenier

On May 26, 2017, Jon C. Grenier, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend passed away due to cancer he battled for two years.

Jon was born March 19, 1948 at Deaconess Hospital in Billings to Roy and Lilah Grenier. His brother Joel, joined the family June 9,1954. He graduated from Senior High School in 1967 and was drafted into the US Army to serve in Vietnam in 1968. Jon met Susan Oswald in 1968 while driving around the "Point" in downtown Billings. They began dating and corresponding throughout his Army stay in Vietnam, as well as at Ft. Eustis in Virginia later on. They were married on April 24,1971.

Jon worked at Big B Muffler, Hanser's Automotive, and then GM Petroleum (now City Service Valcon) before retiring due to the cancer. Jon loved watching game shows, car shows, and cooking shows; collecting various sizes of die cast model cars (much to Sue's dismay); and going fishing/camping with his brother-in-laws' (Ron, David and Jack). He also enjoyed keeping a well manicured lawn, and greatly looked forward to Saturday morning breakfasts with family.

Jon was preceeded in death by his parents and grandparents.

His survivors include Susan (his wife of 46 years); Michelle and Jeremy Grenier, his daughter and son respectively; Michael Grenier, his grandson with whom he had a very special bond, and his wife Haley;Katie Grenier, his granddaughter to whom he was very proud of; great-granddaughter ,Marlie (Marlina)Grenier, who gave him great joy, as well as soon-to-be great-grandson, Dominic Grenier; and brother Joel (Linda) of Alexander, Arkansas.

Jon would have especially liked to acknowledge Joel and Linda, whose support, help, and prayers have been invaluable. He would also have wanted it known that he had a special relationship with his cousin/brother-in-law, Ron Folkerts. They were very close throughout their time together. He was also close to all of Susan's family, especially David, Janet, and Vicki.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30am Wednesday, May 31, at Dahl Funeral Chapel with burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to charity of choice.

I remember Jon as a quiet and very nice guy at High School.  I had a couple of classes with him.  He was one of those guys that went to school and then went to a job to help support his family.  I am happy to see from his obituary that he had a wonderful family to enjoy in his adult years.
